From the moment she released her self-titled debut album in 2006, Taylor Swift has been a cultural force. Nearly 20 years later, she is the first billionaire with music as her primary cash flow. Swift’s unbelievable musical success is nearly matched by her generosity. The “Bad Blood” singer has been known to discreetly slip cash tips to workers at places like the Grammy Awards. And actress Ellen Pompeo recently recalled a time when Swift, 35, wrote her a hefty check with no hesitation.

Taylor Swift Donated to Charity “Without Blinking an Eye”

Ten years ago, Taylor Swift invited Ellen Pompeo to star in her “Bad Blood” music video. At the time, the two had never met. (Swift famously named one of her cats after Meredith Grey, Pompeo’s Grey’s Anatomy character.)

Reminiscing on her time shooting the music video, Pompeo, 55, said that she and her husband, music producer Chris Ivery, often volunteered for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

“They have an amazing program at Children’s where they make music for the babies in the NICU,” the actress said during a recent appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show. “For the parents who have to go to work all day and they can’t be with the kids, they record their voices singing nursery rhymes or telling them stories and they play it for the babies in the day when the parents can’t be there. The babies respond to it and it makes their outcomes more positive.”

During her time shooting the music video, the Good American Family star “got up the chutzpah” to ask Swift, 35, for a “big old check” to the hospital. “And honestly, she knew me all but 20 minutes, and that girl wrote me the biggest check without blinking an eye,” Pompeo said.

Bon Iver Had “Out of Body” Experience Hearing Eras Tour Crowd Sing Along to This Collaboration

Of all Taylor Swift’s many, many collaborations with other artists, one undeniably stands out. “Exile,” her Folklore duet with Bon Iver frontman Justin Vernon, delivers an absolute gut punch every time. And since Vernon never had the opportunity to perform it live with Swift on the Eras Tour, the crowds filled in for him.

Describing hearing the audience sing as “out of body” to TV host Jimmy Fallon, Vernon said, “I saw those clips and I’m like, ‘Gosh, they sound better than one of me can sound.’ No really, it was pretty powerful to just see that and to hear how that sounded. It was amazing.”
